BMI, or Broadcast Music, Inc., is a performing rights organization that manages the public performance rights of songwriters, composers, and music publishers. It collects licensing fees from businesses that play music publicly and distributes these fees as royalties to its members whenever their works are performed in places like radio, TV, concerts, and streaming services. Essentially, it acts as a bridge between music creators and the businesses that use their music.
