In music, IPI stands for Interested Party Information, a unique international identifier assigned to songwriters, composers, and music publishers to track their work and ensure they are paid royalties correctly. It serves as a “royalty fingerprint,” linking a person to their musical creations and making it possible to accurately identify rights holders worldwide, even those with common names. IPI numbers are assigned by organizations like ASCAP and BMI and can also be referred to by their older name, CAE (Composer, Author, and Publisher).
